There has been much talk about how to best manage stormwater at source (primarily the 1 in 1 year ARI event). The Department of Water's Stormwater management manual for Western Australia provides some good advice on how to build structures that can manage the quantity and quality of stormwater at source. In chapter 9 of the manual, you can access worked examples, costs and concept drawings for rainwater storage, managed aquifer recharge, infiltration systems such as basins and trenches, soak wells, pervious pavements, swales and bioretention systems.
